How to become more authentic?

Before we delve into the practical aspects of becoming authentic, we must first understand what authenticity truly means. At its core, authenticity involves living as your True Self. This True Self is a more genuine reflection of who you are deep inside, unlike the self that often takes control to make decisions and interact with the world.

The idea that “being uninhibited” equates to showing your authentic self is fundamentally flawed. Simply expressing your emotions without restraint does not reveal your true essence. Instead, uninhibited behavior often showcases an altered version of yourself—influenced by external factors and immediate reactions.

Your authentic self is not identical to giving your opinions uninhibitedly.

Becoming more authentic, therefore, begins with becoming well aware that your uninhibited self is not your authentic self. Negative emotions and habits guide the uninhibited self, but your real self is not guided by negative emotions and habits. Your real self, your authentic self, shows you in your pure form. It is a self that acts with great integrity.

You don't yet know what your authentic self looks like.

However, now comes a challenge. Many people have no idea what the authentic self looks like. They think they know, but that is a false thought. Unfortunately, they use the framework of the acquired self. However, that is not the right framework. It is similar to thinking you are an apple when actually a pear. With the idea that you are an apple, you start looking for clues to confirm it. So often, you will look for evidence that you are an apple. “Okay, I have a yellow skin, so I must be an apple.”

In all likelihood, you, too, are not yet sufficiently aware of your authentic self. You have learned all these years to be the acquired self so well that your authentic self has not yet been able to show itself enough.

How to become more authentic/

How to become more authentic? The first and most important step is becoming more self-aware. This means that you need to learn to experience yourself more and more. You need to realize that we talk about experience! It’s not about the wording. No, we talk about experiencing. How do you feel? What is going on inside you right now? This is one of the important functions of consciousness: being aware.

Let’s dig into consciousness for a while

There are two additional functions for the conscious creation of interest. First, your consciousness is an infinite being. Speaking of consciousness in three functions merely provides frameworks that support your becoming a conscious creator.

Function 1: With consciousness, you are aware of yourself in a situation you experience.

Function 2: Consciousness creates you by expressing a self.

Function 3: Consciousness lightens.

To become a conscious creator, you must give all three of these functions attention. For many people, it starts with shining a light on. Therefore, if it is not illuminated sufficiently, you cannot create consciously by expressing yourself and not experiencing yourself sufficiently. Then what happens? You create by acting, and your actions are unconscious based on an image of the acquired self. You create a reality that may not suit you.

So start by becoming more aware of yourself. I advise always starting a journal.

Conscious creation

So, conscious creation comes when you create consciously, with the light on. Remember also: What you put out is what you get back. So it is quite important to do the right things.

Because we don't know what the authentic self looks like, so how do you express the design of your authentic self? That is a very good question.

You create a process where your positive emotions give you the direction of how to express yourself in that situation at that time. Positive emotions resonate well with your TrueSelf.

Important positive emotions are love and excitement. When you express yourself with these emotions as direction, you shape your authentic self and are a conscious creator.

Awareness

Again, what you put out is what you get back. This means that it is important that you stay aware of your present situation. They mirror your consciousness and give you information on your next conscious creation. Are you happy and excited with your present situation, awesome! Are you not happy? Then there is more creation work to do.

So the three functions of consciousness work as follows. Due to lightening up, you expand your awareness. If the situation is not the way you want it, you can consciously create, following your positive emotions. By experiencing the effect of your actions in great synergy with your positive emotions, you have a compass toward your authentic self.

Be aware of the beliefs of your acquired self

Your positive emotions are not yet pure; thus, your actions are not pure. All your actions are still quite mixed with positive and negative emotions. Your two selves are still working together. This means that what you express and create still has both selves in it.

An example:

You want to start your own business, which excites you, but you also feel anxiety. These two emotions unconsciously determine your conscious creation, and so does the result. Because you express your excitement and anxiety, they both get a place in your reality. That's how it works.

Final thought

This article is about becoming more authentic. You become more authentic through conscious creation. It is not a quick fix but a lifestyle that inspires you to act daily to become more of who you truly are.

Remember!

"It is up to you to consciously express each moment who you are"
